“Ahhh, this candidate is just right”

once upon a time

Once upon a time, there was an [tag]agency[/tag] looking for the perfect [tag]account manager[/tag] and agency culture fit. For help, the agency hired a recruiter to line up some interviews with various people to find the best fit. First candidate goes in to meet with the pack - he has great experience and a very bubbly and enthusiastic [tag]personality[/tag], full of energy. “He’s too high energy,” says one team member, “The client will eat him alive,” says another.

So the recruiter goes back to work. Now she needs someone with similar great experience, but with thick skin and a more serious [tag]presence[/tag]. She finds one and sends them into the agency. This one is all business and very [tag]knowledgeable[/tag], professional, and experienced – but not a lot of fun. “She never smiles,” says one team member, “She comes across depressed and she’s kind of a ‘Debbie Downer,’” says the hiring manager.

So now the recruiter is back on the hunt looking for that sometimes elusive “perfect fit.” The recruiter searches and searches and finally finds them and sets them up to meet the agency team. This candidate has the great experience, but is also witty, smart, energetic, and knows how to buckle down and not take too much s#&%* from a tough client. “He is great,” says one team member, “a perfect mix of the other two.” With the good feedback coming from all angles, the recruiter calls the hiring manager for the final verdict. “So what do you think?” she asks excitedly. “Ahhhh,” sighs the hiring manager, “this candidate is just right.”
