Missing the Boat

Have you ever been so focused on one particular part of life, or one person, that you turn a blind eye to what is meant to be? Sometimes we see this happen in the search world.

Clients often put all of their eggs in one basket, bank on one candidate, or fall in love and realize it wasn’t meant to be. When you are single and dating, you don’t simply focus on one guy or girl and forgo others you may meet along the way. Why do this in the [tag]Professional[/tag] world? Does it really hurt to talk to more than one candidate, compare and see what you have available to you?

Lately, my colleagues and I have seen our clients focus on one individual and fail to seriously engage any other possibilities. Maybe, they don’t want to rock the boat. In the end, they either realize they are not the right fit or the [tag]Candidate[/tag] gets another offer and leaves the relationship. All this accomplishes is heartbreak and when you’re done crying, you open your eyes and realize there were other perfectly qualified people that you should never have ignored. Now they’re ship is gone, and you missed the boat!

Learn from our clients mistakes; talk to at least three people whenever possible. This will help you see a wide array of the [Tag]Talent[/Tag] that is available and allow you to make a good [Tag]hiring[/Tag] decision. When the ship sets sail, make sure you’re on-board and not watching from the dock.
